Enviro-Watch protects your home

Hesitant to leave home during winter for fear of broken pipes and water damage due to a furnace malfunction?

For "snow birds" leaving their Wisconsin residences, or those lucky enough to escape winter with an extended vacation, we offer a solution to your worries. Install the Enviro-Watch. The device monitors both the power and indoor temperature within the unoccupied home. If a problem develops, Enviro-Watch will automatically call the Response Center's 800 number to report the condition. The operator will immediately call one of your listed contacts to correct the situation.

The device is designed for easy installation. It simply plugs into an ordinary telephone jack and electrical outlet. The convenient test button allows verification that the unit is correctly connected to the phone line and Response Center.

The devices are available at the cooperative office. Members will need to complete a notification instruction sheet and sign a monitoring agreement.

Additional add-on monitoring features are available for an additional fee. They include:

  • High-low temperature
  • Smoke detector
  • Carbon monoxide detector
  • Water sensor

Personal Security with MainStreet Messenger

The MainStreet Messenger is more than just a telephone. It's a personal security system that features a cordless emergency response pendant, high quality speaker phone, automatic alert dialing, monitoring functions, single button memory and reminder capabilities. The handset is hearing aid compatible and the large dial pads are backlit.

Simply pushing the alert key on the telephone, or the large button on the pendant, activates a hands-free two-way speaker phone call to a professionally trained response attendant to summon the appropriate help.

Emergency calls are placed to the Cooperative Response Center (CRC) via a toll-free "800" emergency telephone number.

From virtually anywhere in the home, voice communication can be made within a matter of seconds. The response attendant will reference all medical and emergency information filed by the caller in the CRC data bank, providing this critical information to those responding to the scene. The system is easily installed. Smoke detectors and motion sensors are available as add-on features.

The Oakdale Electric Cooperative offers affordable lease and purchase options. In-home demonstrations are available.

Crime Watch Program

Oakdale Electric Cooperative vehicles travel thousands of miles each year across our five county service territory. Crime Watch is a service program designed to assist public agencies in maintaining law and order.

Oakdale Electric Cooperative vehicles are equipped with radios and/or cellular phones which may be used to report emergency conditions, suspicious events, crimes in progress, traffic accidents or other emergencies.

The program is designed to deter crime, save lives and prevent property damage. In offering service assistance through the Crime Watch program, Oakdale Electric Cooperative is helping to make our area a safer place to live.

Youth Scholarship Program

2007 Youth Leadership Participants - UW-River Falls

The Oakdale Electric Cooperative offers three $750 scholarships in each of the twelve public high schools in its service area: Brookwood, Mauston, Necedah, Nekoosa, New Lisbon, Pittsville, Royall, Sparta, Tomah, Reedsburg, Wisconsin Dells, and Wonewoc-Center.

Participation in the annual Electric Cooperative Youth Leadership Congress (YLC) is required for application to the scholarship program. Essays based on information presented during the YLC are used to determine scholarship recipients. Students must be between their junior and senior years in high school to represent Oakdale Electric at the YLC. Students must also be the son or daughter, or under legal guardianship of a member receiving service from the cooperative. Information packets regarding YLC and the scholarship opportunities are distributed to the high school guidance counselors each spring.

There is also one $750 "at large" scholarship offered for qualifying students not attending one of the public schools previously listed. Students submitting essays for this scholarship do not need to attend the YLC.

The scholarships are funded through the forfeiture of unclaimed capital credits to the Federated Youth Foundation. The program provides a way to reinvest this money into the communities from where it was generated.

For eligibility requirements and more information regarding the scholarships, contact our office.
