Oakdale Electric Cooperative

In Case of Power Outage

While we do our best to keep your lights on, occasionally power failures occur. There could be several reasons for a power failure.

The cause may be something external, on the cooperative's side of the meter. The operation of an electric transmission and distribution system is vulnerable to a variety of circumstances and the weather. Perhaps a tree fell through the power line during a storm, maybe an unfortunate squirrel created a short on the line, or someone trenched through buried cable. These are just a few examples.

The cause may also be an electrical problem within your home. Before you call to report a power outage, please

  • Check the fuses or circuit breakers in your home.
  • Check with your neighbors to see if they are also out of power.
  • Call to report the problem. Our employees have no way of knowing you are without power unless the outage is reported. A toll-free emergency/outage phone number is available for your use at any time of day or night. Phone 1-800-927-6151. Please provide our response center with your account number, the name to which the bills are sent and your telephone number.

If you noticed anything unusual, such as tree limbs over the power lines, a flash atop a pole or a downed wire, please include that information with your report.
