The cause may be something external, on the cooperative's side of the meter. The operation of an electric transmission and distribution system is vulnerable to a variety of circumstances and the weather. Perhaps a tree fell through the power line during a storm, maybe an unfortunate squirrel created a short on the line, or someone trenched through buried cable. These are just a few examples. The cause may also be an electrical problem within your home. Before you call to report a power outage, please
If you noticed anything unusual, such as tree limbs over the power lines, a flash atop a pole or a
downed wire, please include that information with your report.
